Bengalooru Film Festival '09 !!

'All good things come to an end" and so was Bengalooru international film festival, I am not new to festivals , have been there at Osian in Delhi twice but this one was special , for , I had a privileged pass, thanks to VJ ( luv ya buddy) and I watched movies with a different perspective, both as an audience as well as a student of cinema. 

It was last Saturday night when i was lazying around at my home in Mumbai, Vijay , a dear friend of mine, came online and informed me about the film festival and because movies give me an adrenal rush ,he took it to his advantage and implored me to Bangalore. I booked the ticked immediately and next morning was in Bangalore, a beautiful city. it is my first visit to this place, and i hope to visit it again. Not sure, about honeymoon place or something but based on my personal experience(i mean my horny feelings :D , nothing else you dirty minds ), out of all the cities , i have visited , Pune and Bengalooru looked most delectable and perfect cities to enjoy the pleasure of love-making , and am not aggrandizing it.

Coming back to the festival , because of that privilege pass, i had the opportunity to attend all the movies ,any of the workshops running around and felt excited,euphoric, and was flitting between one audi to other, for there were plenty of movies, you know!! the best from all around the world and i didn't wanna miss any of those, soon I realised its better to plan out things ,else would end up gaining nothing and with coffee sips ,i decided to catch three flicks per day based on their synopsis and my interest in the subject!!! and within span of 4 days i ended up watching more than 10 movies, some gorgeous, mind-blowing & scintillating movies.

Film festivals are like a big buffet for movie connoisseurs, because one can choose as per one's wish to devour from the movies of varied cultures, languages, concepts and new & different cinematic styles, and above all a very different kind of cinema , unfortunately ,not available elsewhere.When the lights go off in auditorium and a kaleidoscope of visual mastery occupies the big screen , my goodness!!, it transcends one into a divine realm all together, it's a joy unparalleled for any cinema lover and you automatically end up applauding the herculean efforts of the crew and a mirth is concomitant in every auditoriam;Mind you, film making is the most difficult , time consuming and costliest venture in the world ,with no formula of making a successful film!! only when the final product is released , director realises, if he has hit the target or what went wrong !! , therefore ,I am learning to respect such film-maker.

Another benefit of such festivals is going through the zeitgeist of other countries and understand social, economical and political framework,and one things is common everywhere, yes, you got it right "Human emotions", every person feels the same way !!!!amazing .I also made full use of my one to one talks with a few noted directors (A.N. Prassanna, Girish Ksaravalli and Dan wolman) and educated myself more about the Cinema.I can surely say in last a few days ,I don't know what ,but something inside me got enriched , became more confident,joyful and yes peaceful and you know, when I find myself at loss of words, I believe it to be GOD!!!

P.S: Of all the movies i watched here in Bengalooru, following are a few which i liked more and would strongly recommend, in case you get a chance , which is very unlikely :

2. The songs of sparrow (Dir: Majid Majidi, Country : Iran)

3. Gulabi Talkies (Dir: Girish Kasaravalli , Country : India)

4.The Yellow house ( Dir :Amor Hakkar, Country : Algiers)

5.Foreign Sisters (Dir: Dan Wolman, Country : Isreal)

6.Harru Hakkiyaneri (Dir: A.N.Prassanna, Country : India)

7.Mee Shreyobhilashi (Dir : V.Eshwar Reddy, Country : India)

Soon I shall be back to Mumbai but fond memories of the festival will surely linger for sometime. Now, I am free, and looking forward to visit more of Bengalooru and have a lot of crazy fun with my friends out here.
